Evaluator guide
How to interpret assessment results
First check which attempts are complete and which have pending responses. Metrics make sense when you know coverage, included submission counts and dataset limitations.
- First
- Check completed and pending attempts
- Then
- Compare questions and content
- Competencies
- Only with valid alignment and evidence
1. Check attempt status
Results distinguish activities with results from those needing review. Within an assessment you can filter attempts and open each participant’s responses.
A provisional score is not a final grade. Complete pending reviews before comparing an attempt with finalized grades.
2. Read the summary with its coverage
- Class average: summarizes included complete grades.
- Distribution: shows student counts in each result interval.
- Submissions and complete attempts: clarify the analyzed dataset’s size.
- Exclusions and pending items: explain which data is omitted from certain metrics.
3. Review questions and content
Question analysis locates correct answers, errors, partial credit, unanswered and pending responses. Find where difficulty concentrated and open the question to check evidence.
Type or content analysis groups canonical questions. Before attributing a cause, check wording, answer keys, difficulty and how many attempts contributed data.
4. Interpret competencies and indicators
Competency metrics appear with questions having usable metadata and associated graded responses. The panel shows coverage and links to the questions providing evidence.
A question can contribute to multiple competencies, so group counts overlap. Compare rates and evidence within each group; do not add counts as if they were unique participants or questions.
5. Export for work outside the platform
The results page can generate an Excel download for authorized users. It reflects the data available for that assessment; also review pending states and interface restrictions.

Frequently asked questions
Why is an attempt missing from the distribution?
It may have an incomplete grade or insufficient historical information. The panel shows excluded attempt counts where applicable.
Does a low average identify the cause of a problem?
Not on its own. It is descriptive. Review questions, coverage, pending items and context before proposing an explanation or intervention.
